Stanford Cricket Club - 1997 Season
1997 was part of the transition period in Stanford's history. During this season:
- Ganesh Seetharaman played his last games for us, moving on to greener pastures
- South African import Adnaan Meyer sent down a few vicious
bouncers, played a couple of whirlwind knocks, and then left us and his
girlfriend never to be heard from again
- Zain Khan scored two half-centuries in the same season, something we have not seen happen since.
- Atul Khanzode scored 130 runs in about 400 deliveries - this was
the year prior to the arrival of his buddy Nikhil, an event which was
to transform his batting beyond all recognition.
- A stylish left-hander scored a few runs in his debut season.
Dominic Griffiths was a talented batsman. However, he was later
upstaged by the arrival of a flashy left-hander of Hollywood fame -
Venu Javarappa.
- We first encountered Sarabjit "Sanju" Chadda, who served as the
inspiration for Atul and Ravisha's unique bowling styles (see the East
Bay game)
- We managed to score more runs than Davis, but still lose the game
thanks to some arithmetic errors that were not spotted till days later.
