Stanford Cricket Club - 1997 Season

1998 saw the rebuilding of Stanford Cricket Club continue. Over the course of the season:

We welcomed Mohana Dissanayake and Nikhil Deshpande to the club
Atul Khanzode upped his strike rate from 35 to 50, with his pal Nikhil taking his place as the teams second slowest batsman (nobody ever came close to Bruce "Biyush" Nash)
We used 38 players in our season, including the wonderfully named Atul's Buddy I and Atul's Buddy II
Our Aussie brain surgeon routinely showed up late to games because of bad accidents on 101 the night before that took him to the operating table in the wee hours
Atul ran Bhavani "Bob" Peddada out with a direct hit from 60 yards - an incident which Bhavani still cannot live down
We showed up 4 minutes late to Sunnyvale, not knowing that the games there started at 10am, and Sunnyvale claimed full points and refused to play the game
We won just two games all season, including one in which only two of our batsmen reached double figures, and were relegated to the C-division.
We successfully supported a change in the league structure that resulted in us remaining in the B division the following season :-)
